Recently, I visited a local care nursing facility with staff from the Nursing Care Insurance Division to interview Vietnamese care workers. This interview was part of a PR project aimed at attracting more foreign workers to nursing care jobs in Matsudo City. Since it was my first time meeting Vietnamese care workers in Matsudo, I was very much looking forward to it.
On the day of the visit, I spoke with two Vietnamese women in their twenties who have been working in nursing care for a couple of years. Both of them desire to continue working in Japan long-term, and are currently studying in their spare time to obtain the National Nursing Care Certificate.
When we asked how they found their current jobs, one shared that she was introduced through an agency in Vietnam, while the other, who graduated from a vocational school in Japan, said she found job postings online and applied on her own. I could sense the confidence and reliability of these young women.

According to the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, the number of foreign care workers in Japan reached about 6,900 in 2022, a more than fivefold increase since 2019, with nearly 40% being Vietnamese. This rapid increase can be attributed in part to the growing number of foreign students coming to Japan to study nursing care.
Matsudo City actively supports both foreign care workers and the facilities that employ them. Initiatives include offering free “Easy Japanese for Nursing Care” classes and hosting discussion meetings for employers to better understand and work with foreign care workers. I hope to contribute, even in small ways, to these ongoing efforts.

先日、介護保険課の職員とともに、市内の介護施設を訪問し、ベトナム人の介護スタッフにインタビューを行いました。このインタビューは、松戸市での介護の仕事に外国人の方々が興味を持ってもらえるよう、PR動画制作プロジェクトの一環として行っています。松戸市で働くベトナム人の介護スタッフと直接お会いするのは今回が初めてで、とても楽しみにしていました。
当日は、20代のベトナム人女性介護スタッフ2名にお話を伺うことができました。お二人とも数年間にわたり介護の仕事に従事しており、将来的にも日本で長く働き続けたいと考えています。介護福祉士の国家試験に向け、仕事の合間を縫って勉強を続けているそうです。
彼女たちが現在の仕事をどのように見つけたかと尋ねたところ、ベトナムの派遣会社の紹介で来日した方もいれば、日本の専門学校を卒業後、自らインターネットで求人情報を探して応募した方もいました。頼もしい姿に心強さを感じました。

出入国在留管理庁によると、日本国内で働く外国人介護士の数は2022年度で約6,900人に達し、2019年度の5倍以上に増加しました。そのうち、ベトナム国籍の方が約4割を占めています。外国人介護士が急増した背景には、介護を学ぶ外国人留学生の増加が挙げられます。
松戸市では、「介護のやさしい日本語」クラスが無料で受講できたり、事業者向けの外国人介護人材の懇談会の開催など、受け入れ側と外国人労働者の支援に積極的に取り組んでいます。私も微力ながら、この取り組みに協力していきたいと思っています。
