Sorting and disposal of non-burnable garbage 不燃ごみの捨て方

Items classified as "Non-burnable Garbage" / 「不燃ごみ」に分類される対象品目

Collection day

Non-burnable garbage is picked-up by the city once a week on the same day as your recyclables and hazardous garbage. Please put them out before 8:30 am of the collection day.

How to dispose of them

- Put them in a translucent or transparent plastic bags.
- Black plastic bags, Matsudo City-approved bags for burnable trash, and plastic bags from other municipalities cannot be used.
- Please tie the opening of the garbage bag tightly and make sure that the bag is not damaged before disposing of it.
- If items do not fit into the bags, please put them out as they are.
- Sharp metal objects, such as knives, etc. must be wrapped in newspaper, placed in a plastic bag, and labeled "Dangerous" or "危険(きけん)" before disposing of them.

Ceramic and Glass

Ceramics

Ceramic, Pottery, Porcelain, etc.

Glass

Plate-glass, glass cup. glass crystal, mirror, light bulb, cosmetic and medicine bottle.
※Glass bottles for beverages including energy drink bottles are "Recyclable Bottles and Cans".

【Attention】

Fluorescent light bulbs/tubes and LED straight tubes are "Hazardous and other garbage".

Knife and Scissors

Needles, blades, scissors, kitchen knives, knives, etc.

Wrap them in paper, such as, newspaper, and put them in a plastic bag, and label them "dangerous / 危険(きけん)".

Plastic Products

Buckets, polyethylene containers, and other plastic products

that are at least 30 cm and less than 50 cm in size.
Plastic products that do not exceed 30 cm in any dimension should be disposed of as "Non-recyclable Plastic Garbage".
Plastic products larger than 50 cm are "Bulk garbage".
However, plastic storage bins/boxes and bathtub covers can be collected as "Non-burnable Garbage" even if they exceed 50 cm in size. Please see below.

Plastic containers, storage bins/boxes

1 item can be taken out at per each collection day. Even items with two or more drawers can be disposed of as "Non-burnable garbage" as long as the longest dimension length is less than 80 cm.

Bathtub covers

Roll up the folding-type bathtub cover and tie it with string.
If the cover is divided into panels, please bundle them and tie them together with string.

Aluminum Products

Aluminum foils, disposable body warmers, disposable aluminum foil food containers, etc.

Spray Cans

Spray cans (completely emptied),1 quart metal cans, paint cans

Fully emptied spray cans and other tin/steel products (except for food and drink) can be disposed of as non-burnable waste.

【Attention】

DO NOT puncture spary cans as the gas may accumulate indoors and ignite.
DO NOT dispose of unused items or items with any remaining contents in the municipal trash, as this may cause the garbage truck or waste management facility to catch fire or to cause explosion.
See below for disposal instructions for non-empty spray cans and cassette cylinders.

Please take them to Matsudo Recycle Center

Please call in advance to make an appointment.
There will be a handling fee of 17.6 yen per 1 kg.
※If the total weight is less than 20 kg, the fee is 352 yen flat.

Closed on Sundays, Golden Week (May 3-5), New Year Holidays (Dec.31-Jan.3)

Metal Products

Golf clubs, umnrellas, clothes hanger poles (less than 2 m), flying pans, sauce pans

Ironing boards

The city will pick up the ironing board even if it is larger than 50 cm in size, as long as the legs are folded in.
Ironing boards with non-folding legs larger than 50 cm are "Bulk Garbage".

Bicycles

Bicycles, unicycles, tricycles, scooter, etc.

Please post a note that says "Garbage / ごみ".

【Attention】

Electrically-powered bicycles are "Bulk Garbage", not "Non-burnable Garbage".

Small Home Appliances

Landline telephone sets (including fax machines), clocks, toasters, cameras, hair dryers, rice cookers, microwave ovens, etc.

【Attention】

*Until March 29, 2024, ovens of any size are considered "Bulk Garbage", but as of April 2024, ovens smaller than 50 cm will be classified and can be disposed of as "Non-burnable Garbage".

Fans (propeller type), vacuum cleaners, gas tables (excluding built-in type), etc.

can be collected as Non-burnable Garbage even if they are 50 cm or larger.

Rugs (Approx. less than 8 sqm)

Mats, carpets, rugs, electric carpets, etc.

Please do not roll them up, but fold them small and tie them up with string, and take them out.

Cushions (Less than 80 cm)

Zabuton (floor cushion), cushions, pillows, stuffed animals, etc.

Please place these items in the plastic bag. If the item does not fit in the bag, please put it out as is.
※Dispose of items less than 30 cm in diameter as "Non-recyclable Plastic Garbage".

Devices with Built-in Rechargeable Battery (30 to 50 cm in size)

Tablets, portable fans, mobile batteries, etc.

※Items less than 30 cm in size are "Hazardous and Other Garbage".
