Objectives of the Survey
In proportion to the increase in the number of foreign residents in Japan, Matsudo City also has a record number 1,7791 foreign residents as of the end of October 2022, or approximately 3.57% of its total population of 497,433 people.
Compared to 10,761 people ten years ago, the number of foreign residents living in our city has increased 1.6 times. Because it is expected to increase even more in the future, it is necessary to aim for a multicultural society where citizens can support each other regardless of nationality.
This year, the city of Matsudo has determined to set forth the "Matsudo City Guidelines for Promoting a Multicultural Society" in order to realize a "society of multicultural coexistence" in which Japanese and non-Japanese citizens can learn together, work together, and live together with peace of mind while recognizing each other's various values.
To this end, we have developed a first draft guideline and would like to seek the opinions of all citizens.
